The landscape of the province of Elentine is completely unlike any other in Antavia, having apparently been changed and shaped by the concentrated magical energies surrounding the Mystics who make their home in and around the town of Petralia. Huge crystalline structures dot the land, humming and pulsing with innate magic.
Elentine’s climate seems also to have been affected by the presence of so much magical energy, changing seemlingly from year to year or season to season. This makes any attempt at agriculture difficult, since it is impossible to know whether or not there will be enough rainfall in a given growing season to produce a worthwhile harvest.
A small cottage industry of whether prediction as thus grown up in the region, with so-called weathermen acting as barometers to tell farmers whether a growing season will be successful, or whether they should seek other work for that year. Luckily for the farmers, the needs of the Esoteric University provide ample opportunities for employment when agriculture is not viable. The mages and wizards are constantly on the lookout for low-level assistants, gophers, and test subjects.
In general, the basic friction between magic and technology has prevented much penetration by the Technologist’s Union into Elentine, although some assayers have recently begun to speculate about the technological and industrial applications of the crystals growing in the region. What will be the outcome of this development remains to be seen.Situated on the shores of Glasswater Lake (so called because it’s surface is almost perpetually in a state of complete calm), the city of Varis echoes the style of Allorowyll, although at ground level and on a less grand scale. The Desilvae community of Tymolene, on the other hand, boasts a much more unrefined and organic appearance, reflective of the Desilvae’s more intimate connection with the forest; few outsiders have ever seen the town due to the difficulty of penetrating the forest surrounding it.The forests of Allorowyll have recently become a point of contention between conservationist Elves (especially the Desilvae) and industrialists looking at the vast amounts of timber as an easily exploitable resource. Some of the more aggressive Desilvae have even begun a sort of guerilla campaign to stop the work of the loggers.
With game development comes many financial demands. As an unpaid, independent development team, the members of Team Etherell spend countless amounts of time pursuing the goal of releasing one of the most unique massive online role playing experiences ever. In order to accomplish this feat in a reasonable amount of time, we need lots of financial support. Thus far, the LoE community has poured in funding, helping us license development software, the core game engine, and lots of visual content. Our team is dedicated to delivering this awesome experience, and will do so regardless. However, more funding yields more time spent developing our product and possible full-time employment of our staff. Please consider donating to our cause, and spreading the word about our product to your friends, family, and associates. You support is much appreciated. (Team Etherell)
